History: Born to rich nobles in Spain, she was betrothed at an early age to one she despised above all others. Learning at sixteen she was to be married, she ran away, stowing on a ship called the Luz. She was discovered, and confessed. The captian, afraid for his life, tried to send her back. She threatened to jump ship. He agreed to take her no further than China. In China, Maritzia met and fell into cohorts with a band of Asian pirates. She enjoyed the thrill of the chase and sacking the other ships. Nearly seven years later, she had a band of pirates of her own. As a matter of personal preference, she only plundered other ships flying the pirates flag. One night, th epeaceful water she had come to love, turned on her. Maritzia's boat sank, so dis she. Though she worked well on the ocean, she never learned to swim in it. She had heard stores and tales in her childhood of mermaids, but when they rescued her, and breathed into her lungs their powerful magic, she thought she was dreaming. When she woke up on the shore later, she was certain it had all been a dream and then when she craved salt water three hours later, she believed she was going insane.
